A Victorian Pile on the Aylmer Road

 The ad appeared in the Citizen on June 14 1913. I doubt the house still stands. The copy reminds us that, as the saying goes, "All of this was once farmland." Now it's all golf courses. The photo on the upper right makes the Aylmer Road look like a (narrow) 2-lane dirt track, which it likely was at the time.


The half-mile racetrack is a nice touch. We remember when the Hurdman's had the same sort of thing on what is now the parkland immediately north of the transit station that bears their name. Hey, if you're serious about horses ...
