These decorative porch trims adorn the 4-row at 15-17-19-21 Hawthorne Avenue. Dating the building is tricky — the 1908 Directory shows all four units occupied, with the first newspaper mention (#21) appearing early the following year. Directories from '02 to '07 aren't available. The 1901 volume lists OOE addresses separately, with Hawthorne appearing as Seventh Avenue and none of these four odd-numbered houses mentioned. So let's say built between 1901 and 1908.
The trim we see here was an example of latter Victorian fussiness, on its way out by 1900 and fairly dead by 1910.
Goad (sheet 159, 1912) shows the building on the north side of Hawthorne, backing onto the Grand Trunk Railway tracks.
