Another 2½-storey brick-veneered ("BV") on wood, very much in the style of so many homes in this part of the Glebe. It was built in the first decade of the 20th century in what seems to have been a clean, tidy, middle-class neighbourhood from the outset. The house was first occupied by Robert J. Brown, a teacher at the Percy Street Public School.
That school stood on the NE corner of Percy and Gilmour — Robert Smythe has written a history of the school and its Centretown surroundings that you can read here.
The school burned down in April 1979 — arson was suspected.
