Numbers 64 through 80 Havelock in the Archville section of Old Ottawa East — #80 is the closest, on the left. Subdivided by Archibald Stewart in 1873, Archville was developed over the following decades as a working-class neighbourhood. Recently it has become what realtors like to call a "desirable area," with quite a few of the original houses being replaced builds in the contemporary style.
Goad's 1912 plan shows most of Archville, featuring the new street names. We can see that the little houses at 64 and 66 have already been build, as well as the flat-roofed double, 76-78. #80 sits on what was formerly the back yard of 90 Concord — that's infill for you.
As of 1912, many homes had been built, many lots still sat empty. Pink signifies brick or brick-veneer ("BV") while yellow indicates wood construction. Here we see many small, less expensive wooden homes.
