An oddity sitting at the confluence of here and there, then and now.
The records are maddeningly vague — the house was likely built in the early 1900s, when Concord still called Centre, the street numbering was different, and Archville was not yet a part of Ottawa. This last-gasp of Victoriana then backed on a stretch of depressed, marshy ground, soon to become a rail-yard and past that, a coal-gasification plant.
In the spring of 1951, the address sprang into the headlines as the lair of the notorious abductor and sex-torturer of teenage boys, Owen Dulmage.
