Homebuilding on Monkland Avenue began in 1908; #7 dates to c. 1911, its stark prairie lines look brashly modern more than a century later. Goad 1912 shows it as brick-veneer on wood. The house was built for Frank R. Burgess of whom the City Directory writes "eng chf Hydro br Dept Naval Service."
